The Future of Cloud Gaming: Know More
The internet opens up a wide door for people to explore the world.
14:50 27 May 2020
World here doesn’t mean the places we can be. It means everything that is happening and that can happen. It also means that you can explore something that is not of this world. I am here talking about the virtual world. The world that exists within the computer screens.
However, recent times have seen the internet unlocking new extents of its own. From online gaming based on computers and mobiles, gaming has moved to clouds. Cloud is an internet based space where you can store and execute data. Cloud gaming on the other side takes internet services to a whole new level.
Cloud gaming and its benefits
Cloud gaming quite literally means that you can play a game present on the cloud without downloading the game to your desktop. These games stay live entirely in data centres and can be accessed with a username and password, much like how casino games are accessed on a mobile casino. This type of gaming has many advantages over the normal downloadable games. Listing down a few:
- Cloud gaming doesn’t have many requirements to fulfill. The primal being a strong internet connection. All other requirements are adjusted by the internet service and therefore, a player can play high configuration games on a normal PC.
- Since these games are already on the internet, all the updates of the game are up to date and live. You need not worry about updating your drivers or the game itself. This saves a lot of your internet data.
- Cloud gaming is in many ways similar but distinct from video streaming. You access them from any device that has an internet connection, but unlike videos that appear the same to everyone, they show different perspectives for each user.
Future of cloud gaming - opportunity or certainty
With so many significant benefits over the traditional way of gaming, cloud gaming leaves us with a promise of becoming the next big thing in the gaming industry. However, it also leaves us with a few elementary questions that need to be answered if it is really what we think it is. Questions like what happens to the console and gaming PCs?; Are there any limitations to who can and who cannot play a cloud game?; If not, then how complex can these games become?
All these questions need to be answered.
However, the gaming companies are already on a roll to answer a few of them and clarify what will and what will not be a possibility with cloud gaming. Since cloud gaming is a service that doesn’t require a high-specification PC or smartphone to be accessed and played, it has the potential to increase the number of players in multifolds. Players that held themselves back due to the need of an expensive device will now be able to play modern/interactive games at ease. And as the internet indicates, cloud gaming will have infinite space to handle this audience. Moreover, cloud gaming may affect the local gaming but the companies can still be around by making their games compatible for cloud usage. Hence, it opens up an opportunity for the same old companies to extend their arms in a completely new and unexplored field where the possibilities as of now are undefined.
Cloud gaming looks like a promising way for gaming in the coming times. All we can do is sit back, enrol and watch the industry pushing its boundary to enrich gaming experience.
