New research has found that Mohammed is the top boy’s name chosen by parents in the county. The name has moved 27 spots from last year’s UK’s top baby names based on data carried out by website BabyCentre.
Other top names for baby boys include Teddy, Kian, and Jonathan. New entries include Omar, Ali, and Ibrahim.
Meanwhile, the most popular name for baby girls is Sophia.
Sarah Redshaw, managing editor for BabyCentre, said: "With the increase of Arabic names plus Aarav, an Indian boys' name, the top 100 shows the ever-increasing diversity of the UK today.
"Parents have also been influenced by celebrity name choices. The Beckhams and Simon Cowell have been big influences this year. Eric, the name Simon Cowell chose for his son, increased by 314%."
The names of David and Victoria’s children also made it to the top 100 this year. Harper is a new entry while Romeo is up 67per cent and Cruz is up 400per cent.
Meanwhile, Emilia, a name made popular by Games of Thrones, was a new entry at number 53.
