If you are looking for a way to make your bathroom more inviting and functional, this post is the perfect place to start! Here we will go over how you can use simplicity to your advantage, show you what types of materials work well for creating minimalist bathrooms, and will discuss ways that you can easily turn your bathroom into an enjoyable space.
Keep toiletries in a basket or on the counter
Bathroom counter space is limited so try to only keep the items that you use daily on your bathroom counter. This way, it's still easy for guests or family members to pick up their toiletries when they stay over and not have them take up half of the vanity area and so the bathroom won’t be messy or cluttered. If you’re looking at a place with low counters then find ways around this issue by putting in some attractive and functional baskets above where people can put their things like towels, soap and shampoo into without taking away from an already small surface area.
Purchase a few pieces of art for your walls
One of the best ways to create a minimalist bathroom is to purchase art for your walls. Purchase pieces that are bright and colorful, because you will want something interesting on the wall while showering! There should be three or four pieces at most scattered throughout your bathroom - do not go overboard with this idea. A painting or two will give the room some personality. If you are on a budget, look for art that is created by local artists in your community. Local stores tend to have lower prices when it comes to purchasing paintings and prints.
Install new towel bars
The first step is to choose the right spot for your towel bar. Ideally, you want it placed in a location that will allow guests easy access when they are getting out of the shower or bathtub, so installing the towel bars on the outside edge of the shower wall is the perfect solution so they don't take up space inside the tub/shower enclosure. Place them about eye level so you won’t have to reach too high or bend down too low when you need it. This will also help keep water off dry stuff since you're not opening doors after every use.
Install more lights
Adding more lighting to your bathroom can help it feel open and airy. So, whether it's daylight streaming in through large windows or bright overhead lights, make sure there is plenty of light coming into your room so that everything looks great and feels open even if it isn't huge. Pendant lamps, for example, look perfect in bathrooms because they give off just enough light without being too harsh on the eyes while also giving some character to an otherwise plain room. If you have a window in your bathroom, make sure there are lights on both sides of the mirror for when you do your makeup routine. You may also consider installing additional light fixtures above the shower if you don’t have any - this is great for giving yourself extra illumination while washing up after getting out of the tub/shower.

Replace your old shower curtain with a clear glass door
A shower curtain can be a source of mildew or mold. If you have an enclosed glass door, which is easier to clean, replace your old shower curtain with the clear glass door and let more light into your bathroom. This is the perfect way to let light into your bathroom while still providing a visual barrier. It also makes cleaning up after shower time so much easier! If you have an extra-large tub, replace the curtains with sliding glass doors for easy access in and out of bathwater.
