Tesco Mobile launched pay as you go Service for Benefits of People
18:56 25 October 2022
Tesco has launched an integrated campaign for its 'super useful mobile' across radio, out-of-home, print, digital, social and TV advertising which follows the odyssey of the benevolent shopping trolley.
The campaign, which is part of the brand's 'Supermarket mobile' platform, reinforces Tesco's claim that it prioritizes customer service in a 'category that doesn't', through measures such as avoiding surprise price increases and earning customers Clubcard points.
Created by Bartle Bogle Hegarty London, the piece shows the ways in which Tesco Mobile helps its customers. For example, three OOH ads use images of food to convey brand utility. One embodiment features an image of a smartphone with the cutout removed to reveal a Victoria mushroom. "Earn Clubcard points on every mobile account. Piece of cake," reads the copy. "This is a supermarket mobile".

The 'Epic Mission' TV commercial opens on a dark and rainy night in a Tesco car park, where a mobile phone bill with the words 'Mobile Increase' flies onto the cage of a shopping trolley. The perceptive troll then embarks on a journey across the UK, on roads, across fields, even hitching a tow with a child on a bike up a hill.
Spot cuts to a woman on the phone, frustrated as she talks to her mobile operator's call center and complains that her bill has gone up. She is distracted by the hero's cart and hangs up before driving the cart to the local Tesco. "Join the network, but you will not increase prices during the contract," the voiceover says. "This is a super useful mobile. This is a supermarket mobile."
Rachel Swift, Marketing Director of Tesco Mobile, said: “We know how tough it is this year with the rising cost of living, so it's now more important than ever to give Tesco customers an unrivaled mobile experience they can't get. from other networks – like being really helpful and offering exclusive rewards.”
Uche Ezugwu, creative director of BBH, said: "Tesco Mobile is a challenger brand in the noisy world of telecommunications. We created an idea that would right the wrongs of the industry and show how Tesco Mobile is a champion for customers. Work that would be the 'hero' of their underdog spirit that helps customers in a way that only Tesco Mobile can."
