Telcom has launched a free coding school and bootcamp to help youngsters who wish to start a career in the digital sector. Recode, a drop in coding school, will give 500 students nationwide the opportunity to take advantage of a free three month intensive coding bootcamp. The class is open for budding coders from any background with no previous experience of coding necessary.
Co-CEOs Shaun Gibson and Doug Ward of Telcom Group , said: “As a business we are passionate about giving people in our community the opportunity to gain the skills that will shape our future and allow people to access the power of technology, becoming creators not just consumers of digital tools.
"Just as we see internet provision as the fourth utility, we feel coding is a basic skill which all adults need to operate in the changing employment landscape.
"These skills are in high demand and the ability to write and understand code are fast becoming an essential skill for any job or career pathway."
He added: "We recognise that it is not just about having fast internet, it’s about what you do with that fast internet once you have it. We hope Recode will be a catalyst for people in Bolton and across the UK to experience the opportunities training in coding can open up for them.
