Taliban have hit NATO supply compound in Kabul early this morning killing at least six people and injuring several others. Among the casualties are two truck drivers and four guards. All four suicide bombers also died after the explosion which was followed by a 30-minute gun fight between insurgents and guards.
The Taliban later claimed responsibility for the attack.
The United States of America has been pushing for peace talks to start as 100,000 NATO combat troops prepare to withdraw next year leaving the Afghan forces to fight the Islamist extremists.
However, on June 18, President Hamid Karzai was enraged, as reports have confirmed that a Taliban office was set up in Qatar. As a result, he broke off the bilateral security talks with US and warned to boycott any peace process.
Meanwhile, the Taliban refused to hold any peace talks with the Afghan government. They also labeled Karzai as a puppet of United States.
Although the Pentagon have expressed optimism over negotiations for a security deal on Monday, the Afghan government, NATO commanders, and the Taliban have all vowed to keep fighting.
