Several Staffordshire communities now have easy access to superfast broadband following the deployment of a £32million scheme supported by Openreach and the UK government. Residents who are yet to make a switch are being urged by Get Online, a Government-based campaign that gives advice and guidance on how people can get more out of their online services, to find out more about the service during national Get Online week. The Superfast Staffordshire team has been spreading the message as to how simple it is to make a switch to faster broadband.
Staffordshire County Council’s economic growth leader Mark Winnington said: “Faster broadband can make a real difference to people’s day to day living. Get Online week aims to enable even more people to benefit and we’d urge people who are not confident with internet or IT use to enroll on one of our courses.”
“The Superfast Staffordshire programme has been a huge success – enabling over 80,000 properties to connect to superfast broadband which had previously been unable to do so. Over half of those have decided to get connected. When they do so, they can increase opportunities in leisure, health or study and improve business productivity if using for work. I would urge people to find out if they can get connected – it really is an easy process.”
“We are pleased to have reached 95per cent coverage across the county, but I’d again like to reassure people that we will continue to do all we can to find solutions for those not yet included in the plan.”
