Power being restored after Storm Imogen hits England and Wales.

Power is now being restored after Storm Imogen hits South-west England and south and mid-Wales. However, more than a thousand properties remain without power following heavy rain and strong winds. Most of those still cut off are in Devon and Cornwall.

 

63ft waves were recorded off the Cornish coast and winds of 70-80mph felt in many areas.

 

Forecasters have warned that although the eye of the storm passed on Monday night, large waves and high tides are still to be expected along the south coast of England until Tuesday.

 

More than 50 Environment Agency flood warnings are in place, which means that flooding is expected and immediate action is required.

 

Meanwhile, two young children were badly injured after part of a garden wall collapsed on top of them as they walked to school in Worcestershire. A special bridge to help dormice cross the Church Village by-pass also collapsed and hit the windscreen of a car.

 

On the other hand, train services were disrupted and services in and out Cornwall were cancelled after a tree feel across the tracks near Bodmin.
