Stirling City McDonalds Turns off Wifi

McDonald’s at Murray Place has switched the WiFi off to stop youth gathering and prevent anti-social behaviour.

McDonald’s at the Stirling city centre had to turn off their WiFi to prevent large groups of youths gathering in the area. The fast-food restaurant, along with the police, had to take action following incidents of bad behaviour in the area. The third and fourth year pupils at Wallace High were also educated about the impact of their actions since the pupils were the most involved in recent incidents. Off-sales shops are also taking action to prevent trouble in the area.

 

The report read: “McDonald’s have also assisted in reducing the attractiveness to youths who frequented the exterior of the premises by turning off wi-fi at times when groups begin to convene in the area.”

 

A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “We pride ourselves on being a family-friendly restaurant and the safety of our customers and crew is of utmost importance.

 

“We have a strong working relationship with Stirling’s police force and will continue to work alongside them to ensure our restaurant and the surrounding area remain safe.”
