Some of the brightest stars in the Hollywood galaxy have come into conflict over the lead role in the film version of The Da Vinci Code.

Reports indicate Russell Crowe, George Clooney, Tom Hanks and Hugh Jackman are all vying to star in the adaptation.

Multi-Oscar winning director Ron Howard is apparently looking to see which of this stellar line-up would most suit the role of the book's principal character Robert Langdon.
