Rocker Matt Bellamy and actress Kate Hudson have settled on a name for their new arrival.

The baby boy, who was born on 9 July in Los Angeles, has been named Bingham 'Bing' Hawn Bellamy.

Muse front man Bellamy revealed the name of his son via his Twitter page, posting:

"So happy! Just had a baby boy, Bingham 'Bing' Hawn Bellamy.

"Mum and baby are strong and healthy. Mum was a warrior, Bing popped out after 4.5 hours of intense pushing!"

He returned to the social networking site soon after to explain the couple's interesting name choice, saying:

"For those wondering, Bingham is my mum's maiden name.

"Bing Russell was also Kurt [Russell's] dad. Family connections all around!"

Thirty-two-year-old Hudson considers Russell, her mother Goldie Hawn's partner of 28-years, a father figure.

The actress already has one son, Ryder, seven, with her ex-husband, Chris Robinson.
