Hollywood actor contracts deadly tropical disease...
10:09 21 January 2011
It has been revealed that film star George Clooney contracted malaria on a recent trip to Africa.
The Hollywood actor caught the tropical disease while he was in Sudan, but is now fully cured, according to a spokesman.
Forty-nine-year-old Clooney is a frequent visitor to the country to help raise awareness about the conflict in Dafur.
He made the revelation during an interview with Piers Morgan which is set to air on CNN on 21 January.
Morgan wrote on his Twitter page before the interview:
"George Clooney has contracted malaria following recent trip to Sudan. Taking medication but feeling rough."
Clooney is the latest high profile celebrity to catch the potentially fatal disease.
Cheryl Cole was hospitalised in July after catching malaria during a holiday to Tanzania.
