South Kesteven Smart Streetlights
South Kesteven set to trial smart streetlights designed to test air quality and measure footfall, among others.

South Kesteven District Council has partnered with Digital Catapult to trial smart streetlights designed to test air quality, measure footfall and tell their operators when they are not working properly.
The £10,000 scheme will see the use of digital sensors and 15-20 smart lights across the district. At the end of the trial, the council will decide whether or not to scale up the project and may see a move to put sensors in all of the district council’s streetlights.
The pilot scheme would go live in seven month’s time, as confirmed by committee chairman Graham Jeal.
Before the trial commences, members of the finance, economic development and corporate services overview and scrutiny committee want to hear more details of the project and its scope.
