Sony, the Japanese electronics giant who may still be struggling to regain market share against Microsoft, has recently announced the PlayStation 4 - which the company claims to be the future of entertainment.
Sony has demonstrated the PlayStation console, which features dramatically increased graphics power and a new controller with a built in touchpad. However, they did not show the device itself, nor say when it will go on sale, or how much it will cost.
However, analysts and gamers believe that it will go on sale around Christmas time.
Although the new console has been improved, Sony disappointed a lot of gamers for not revealing what it looks like. Some gamers took to Twitter and referred to the two-hour press conference as “the great PS4 scam.”
Jack Tretton, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment of America thinks that the appearance of the console isn’t exactly important. He said: “I don't know that the box is going to be something that's going to have a dramatic impact on people's feelings about the game.”
“It will be a color and a size fairly comparable to previous consoles.”
“There's a big story to tell here, and it's going to take between now and the holiday season to get all the details out there.”
