EastEnders stars Kara Tointon and Joe Swash have confirmed that they have split up.

Ex-EastEnder turned lingerie model Tointon, 26, reportedly called time on their relationship following a series of arguments.

News of the split comes only weeks after she declared: "We're very happy together, everything's going really well, but you'll have to ask him when we're getting married."

Tointon was spotted in Marbella on Saturday after heading to Spain to get over the split with former Jungle king Swash.

The couple met in 2005 when they played brother and sister on EastEnders. However, despite months of speculation, they only announced they were an item after Swash, 28, was crowned Jungle King on ITV's I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in 2008.

They continued working together in a 'Snow White' pantomime, but backstage rows were reported.

A friend said: "Both she and Joe are really upset about it - but their rows were getting too frequent and they knew that they couldn't make it work anymore."
