Brits are warned to prepare for snow next week as temperatures plummet.
Chilly autumn weather is to be expected to be pushed out by bitter easterly winds from Russia and Scandinavia. Forecasters said that there’s a chance of some early snowfall over the Scottish hills before the end of the week.
The north is expected to experience around 10C temperature while the south may enjoy a slightly warmer highs of 12C.
Forecaster Emma Sharples, said: “We’re going to see a spell of fairly quiet, settled weather as high pressure over Scandinavia builds across the UK.
“It will start to feel cooler as easterly winds bring colder air from Eastern Europe across the UK.
“Most places will see some sunshine by day but along the east coast it will be cloudier at times with the chance of some showers.
“The freshening easterly wind will make it feel cool, especially across the south by the middle of the week with temperatures expected to drop below normal and we can expect some chilly nights too.”
Meanwhile, Leon Brown, forecaster for The Weather Channel UK, said: “A weak front will give a little light rain to the north on Monday before dying out and high pressure builds again.
“The south and east quite cloudy at times with the best of the sunshine until mid-week in the north and west.
“Beware of some dense fog over north and northeast England and also chilly nights and local frosts with temperatures in general 2C or so below normal.
“Later this week a cold front may move down across the UK from the north giving some rain to northern Britain but dying out as it reaches the south.
“Showers following to the far north and cold enough for these to be wintry over the Scottish Highlands Thursday night.”
