Insights from neuroscience research suggest that this technology also enhances a person’s physiological, neurological and psychological wellbeing.
Smart home automation allows users to control their environment so they can achieve their desired results. According to researchers, this reduces stress levels and maximises efficiency with which needs are gratified. This is important because uncontrolled stress has a powerful impact on physiological, neurological and psychological function, as evidenced by research conducted by researchers from Miami University in 2008.
The physiological benefits that come with being able to control the environment also leads to various neurological and psychological benefits. According to Dr Amy Arnsten from Yale University control maintains or even strengthens the brain’s prefrontal cortex functioning, which enables mental processes to remain intact.
According to multiple medical studies from various academics, people who feel a greater sense of environmental control demonstrate optimism, motivation, and increased persistent following setbacks. These characteristics have been shown to lower the risk for psychopathology.
Various research and studies on home automation conclude that there is a profound impact from control on various aspects of human function. Based on gathered data, it can be hypothesise that smart homeowners feel a greater sense of autonomy over their homes. As a result, they are more likely to experience lower levels of stress.
