Smart Home Automation
Wink's smart home automation non-functional for 8 days.
21:58 03 February 2021
For eight days and counting, home automation company Wink has been experiencing a connectivity issue.
The problem, which has been described as "an issue controlling devices connected to wink", means that scheduled automation tasks no longer work. For example, smart bulbs set to come on and off at specific times each day will need to be triggered manually until the issue is fixed.
The company has posted on their website that the connectivity problem had been identified on January 28. They also said that the fix was being implemented. However, they are yet to provide an update. The company is asking users to leave their Wink Hub plugged in so the Local Control will continue to function. Eventually, automation should just start working again.
The connectivity issue follows the company's surprising announcement last year requiring users to pay $4.99 monthly or lose internet access to their Wink products, citing "long term costs and recent economic events [that put] additional strain on our business."
