SIP Phones
SIP or VoIP phones are used to carry actual voice over an IP-based network using an open standard called RTP.

These phones can be either hardphones or software SIP phones. The former resembles a regular phone, sharing its appearance as well as its functions. However, the hardware is built using network-ware and connects to an IP-network using regular Ethernet cables or WiFi. The latter, on the other hand, refers to a software program that provides telephone functionality. Any computing device that has a microphone and speaker can run softphone programs. The only requirement is an IP-based connection to a VoIP provider or a SIP server, often in the form of an IP-PBX.
Softphones offer many benefits; they allow you to make better use of your computing resources and offer a long list of features that can improve your calling experience.
