TV bosses at the US Fox network are reportedly close to signing up Rod Stewart's daughter Kimberly to star opposite hotel heiress Paris Hilton in The Simple Life.

The glamorous sometime TV presenter is set to replace Lionel Richie's daughter Nicole on the reality show after Paris and her best friend fell out.

Stewart said: "We can't talk about it. It's top secret... We're in the works with something very special."

Producers on hit show The Simple Life are hoping to make some drastic changes to the programme's format as the show moves into its fourth season.

Paris said: "I've had three great seasons. I love the show and I just want to freshen it up and make it funnier, and bring new things in.

"It's gonna be a big surprise. And everyone is going to be very excited and happy about it."

Stewart, who sometimes presents for US news and gossip show The Insider, would replace Nicole as The Simple Life begins shooting in Maui next month.
