Shock double firing
Lord Sugar decides to let two candidates go...
09:06 02 June 2011
Vincent Disneur and Ellie Reed have become the latest candidates to leave the Apprentice boardroom after a surprise double firing.
Lord Sugar gave Reed the boot first, before deciding to let Disneur go too to send a message to the remaining candidates.
This week, the teams had to come up with, brand and film an advertisement for, a new pet food.
Team Logic, led by Disneur, produced a food called Everydog, championed by Jim Eastwood and aimed at all breeds of canine, while rivals Venture came up with healthy feline food, Catsize.
After each team presented their pitch to leading advertising executives, Lord Sugar decided that Catsize was the most successful product overall.
Sugar was quick to point out Logic's glaring campaign flaw, complaining:
"You're insinuating that that food is good for any dog, but it doesn't work like that and it might be insulting to the actual pet owner."
Vincent chose to bring Ellie and Natasha Scribbins back into the boardroom with him, choosing to save his right-hand-man Eastwood from the axe.
Sugar promptly fired Reed, after stating that he "couldn't go into business" with her, then also sacked Vincent for "strategising in the boardroom".
In the black taxi home, Disneur said:
"I'm very surprised that Lord Sugar fired me. If I'd brought Jim in there, I wouldn't be in this position now."
