Sherlock star Andrew Scott is the next villain in the new James Bond film. The 38-year-old actor, who found fame in the hit BBC show will play Daniel Craig’s nemesis in the highly anticipated 007 flick which currently has a working title Bond 24.
The Irish actor is set to appear alongside Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Rory Kinnear, and Naomie Harris, Lea Seydoux, Dave Bautista, and Oscar winner Christoph Waltz. It was initially reported that Waltz was to play the villain but his role in the film may not be as clear cut.
Sam Mendes will direct the film that is set to be released in October 2015.
An insider told the Mirror: “Andrew was hand-picked for a role in the new Bond movie after film bosses loved his star turn in Sherlock.
“Casting directors thought he was perfect to play a baddie and they wanted to use his existing Sherlock profile - and amp it up to the next level.
“Andrew is hoping the move will see him leap from TV to the big screen, where he can eventually divide his time between London and LA. He knows this is his big break.”
