Hollywood actress Sharon Stone has become a minister over the internet in order to marry two of her friends.

The 46-year-old married restaurant owner Michael Bourseau and stylist Brenda Swanson in a ceremony witnessed by actors Jack Nicholson and Robert Wagner.

The bizarre event was conducted by Ms Stone at her luxury home in Coldwater Canyon - to the obvious delight of the couple.

"No one's going to believe it when I hang up my wedding certificate up on the wall," the groom was overheard as saying.

But Ms Stone is not the only celebrity to be ordained online.

Two years ago, singer Robbie Williams became a church minister so he could conduct a wedding ceremony for friends in Los Angeles.

Irish singer Sinead O'Connor has gone one better - and has become a Catholic priest.
