There has been much speculation about a ‘sea monster’ washing up on a beach in the North Island of New Zealand. The creature, supposedly 30 foot long, turned up at the Bay of Plenty after heavy storms hit the area in April.
The creature, which was part covered in sand on Pukehina beach, appears to have large teeth and also flippers. However, most of its carcass was incomplete.
Elizabeth Anne posted images and footage of the creature on the internet. She filmed and posted a video of it on Youtube along with the following words;
“Can anyone identify what it is?”
Adding: “It has a huge head and teeth with rudimentary flippers.”
Some people have made guesses as to what the creature is, including that it could be another known sea animal. One expert has suggested it could be a killer whale according to reports.
It is understood there will be tests carried out to work out what the discovery is.
Tauranga is one of the main cities in The Bay of Plenty area. The Bay of Plenty, which is located on the East side of the Island from Auckland, is near to Rotorua.
The country attracts many visitors and travellers alike to both the North and South Island each year.
