Tes, a global business built on the Times Educational Supplement, has recently acquired Glasgow-based SchoolCloud for an undisclosed amount.
SchoolCloud was started by two Mearns Castle High School students at the age of 15. Launched in 2006, it is now being used by more than 6,000 schools for events and room booking. It employs 15 staff at its office in The Albus building at Clyde Gateway in the East End of Glasgow.
Tes’s acquisition of SchoolCloud widens the solutions that the educational technology business offers to schools, including pupil management, timetabling, wellbeing survey tools, recruitment and compliance training.
Rod Williams, chief executive of Tes, said that during the pandemic, schools have understandably looked to adopt new technology with a greater sense of urgency.
"This is likely to leave a longstanding valuable legacy, given the clear benefits SchoolCloud has brought to schools - we’re very excited about this now becoming part of Tes’ offering to schools.
“Tes is very much looking forward to supporting that growth going forwards, and with that growing our presence in Glasgow, as SchoolCloud continues to thrive and expand both in the UK and internationally.”
