Samsung is joining the bandwagon and has developed its own mesh WiFi routers, which work flawlessly with SmartThings.
SmartThings is the home automation company bought by Samsung in 2014. It makes hubs that oversee a host of connected devices in a household.
Samsung’s mesh WiFi gadget has a built-in SmartTHing router allowing it to communicate with gadgets around the house including security cameras and smart bulbs.
Samsung Connect Home router is sold in packs of three and supports mesh networking. This means that one of the units is used as a base to broadcast your signal while the other two are used to extend that network throughout your house. Each unit has a range of 1,500 square feet.
Its design is very similar to that of rival Eero featuring glossy white finish and same rounded square silhouette. They also both offer dual-band 802.11ac at AC1300 speed, 4GB of storage and 512MB of RAM. However, Samsung’s processor is slower compared to the Eero’s but uses a faster 1.7GHz dual-core chip and supports quad-band 802.11ac at a faster AC2600 rate.
