Salford CCTV to Tackle Illegal School Parking

Salford Council to start using CCTV cameras to crackdown on illegal parking outside schools starting 21st of September.

Salford City Council is urging parents driving children to school to park safely and legally to keep children safe. The council has confirmed that it will install CCTV cameras outside four schools next week to crack down on illegal parking. 

 

The location of the cameras will not be revealed but they will cover known danger hotspots and those caught breaking the law will be sent a £70 penalty charge. 

 

Lead member for environment and community safety Councillor David Lancaster said: "I would be very happy to see no penalty notices issued at all because that would mean everyone is respecting the law and keeping our children see. 

 

"Double yellow lines and no parking zones outside school are there to protect children. It only takes a few minutes to park legally, safely and considerately without blocking driveways or streets for people who live near schools and walk the last few yards to school. 

 

"We've seen a lot of kindness and community spirit during the pandemic. Let's keep that going and keep our children safe."
