On Wednesday, Julien’s Auctions in Beverly Hills announced that Jo Wood, ex-wife to Rolling Stone’s Ronnie Wood, is putting the band’s memorabilia she collected over the years up for auction.
Some of the items that are up for sale are thought to be the personal belongings of Ronnie, who reportedly did not give his ex-wife permission to sell his things.
Should the auction pushe through, it is estimated it will raise up to £388,000 to benefit MusicCares. This is the Grammy’s charity that provides emergency financial assistance to musicians who are in need.
The couple spent 24 years married together before they divorced in 2011 after Ronnie was accused of having an affair with Eketerina Ivanova.
The collection is thought to include leather jackets, portraits of Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, and Bob Dylan, and backstage passes from various Rolling Stone tours. In addition, it also includes art works, furniture, and antiques from Wood’s former home in Surrey as reported by The BBC.
Ronnie released a statement through his publicist saying he did not participate in the auction. The representative said: “He is therefore shocked and disappointed that this auction is being misrepresented as a joint sale. This is not the case.”
The statement continued: "Ronnie feels saddened that Jo has taken this course of action and wants the public to know he has not teamed up with Jo on this outrageous sale.”
