Romeo Beckham won’t appear in the pages of fashion magazine Vogue. The son of showbiz power couple David and Victoria Beckham, who models for Burberry, was deemed too young for the gig.
British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman, explained the reasons through Twitter. She wrote: "Romeo Beckham @Burberry doesn't meet Vogue model health initiative criteria of over 16's only. (sic)"
Vogue international editors reportedly believe that putting the 10-year-old model on the pages of Vogue would set a bad example for young people out there.
In May, the company and its 19 international editors launched a health initiative where they all agreed to promote healthy body image within the industry. They stated: "We will not knowingly work with models under the age of 16 or who appear to have an eating disorder."
However, the magazine will supposedly run Burberry’s new spring/summer 2013 campaign where the cheeky child poses wearing trench coats. Vogue’s editor explains this and is quoted by The Telegraph saying: “To clarify Vogue no under sixteen model ban is in pages of our magazine. We don't control runways or advertising."
