With his wife by his side, 83-year-old entertainer Rolf Harris has appeared in court to face 13 sex child charges. Wearing dark suit and patterned tie, he did not answer any questions from reporters as he made his way to the building with security guards surrounding him. He left 30 minutes later.
The veteran TV presenter and musician is being accused of assault by two alleged victims who were aged 14 and 15 at the time between 1980 and 1986. However, further charges of making indecent images to a child date back to last year.
Defence attorney Sonia Woodley QC, confirmed that Harris pled not guilty and that he will fight the charges.
Following multiple abuse claims against Jimmy Savile, officers on Operation Yewtree questioned Harris under caution on November 2012. He was arrested in March this year and charged in August.
If convicted, Harris could face up to ten years in jail. In the meantime, the broadcaster is banned from having contact with any children unless supervised.
As he left the court, he remained tight lipped as he fought his way through a huge group of reporters.
