Rod Stewart has just proven that he still has it. After 34 years since he last scored UK number one album, he is now back on top with his newest one entitled Time.
Time, Rod’s 7th album to reach the number spot in the country, features self-penned songs about his life. According to reports, after suffering from writer’s block, Rod regained his writing skills while he was working on his best-selling memoir entitled Rod.
He said: ‘Something about that process of reviewing my life for the book reconnected me and that was it - I was away.
‘Suddenly ideas for lyrics were piling up in my head. Next thing I knew, I had a song called It’s Over about divorce and separation.’
The 68-year-old singer first topped the album charts in 1971 with Every Picture Tells A Story. The last number one he had in UK was with the single Baby Jane in 1983.
Responding to the happy news, Stewart said: ‘Well, knock me down with a feather. Just goes to show there’s still plenty of songs left in the old violin. Thank you!’
