Richmond Town Council receives £21,100 funding for the installation of cameras in town centre.

Members of Richmondshire District Council’s corporate board has approved the funding for the installation of cameras in Richmond town centre. The £21,100 funding gives the town four cameras that will be fixed on the town hall and museum covering the car parks, pedestrian and shopping areas. Another three deployable cameras will be used on trouble spots.
The CCTV system was previously funded through a partnership of the district council, town council and local businesses. In 2014, the funding from the business community became no longer available.
Council Leader, Councillor Yvonne Peacock, said: “Although we cannot run these schemes any longer, we are committed to helping communities and business associations with the capital costs of installing cameras,”
“Richmond is a great example of this – without our help these cameras could not be installed.”
