Richard Gere to get an achievement award at 2012 Zurich Film Festival

Talented US star Richard Gere, whose performances in different films have left fans worldwide in awe, is set to receive a lifetime achievement award.
This will take place at this year’s Zurich Film Festival, which will be held in Switzerland on September 20th.
Gere, who began acting in the 1970s, will be handed the prestigious ‘Golden Icon Award’ on September 23rdduring a special gala.
One of the festival’s directors, Karl Spoerri, said in a statement : "Richard Gere is an extraordinary man whose accomplishments in Hollywood are equaled by his humanitarian achievements.
“We're honored to recognize his amazing career at the Zurich Film Festival".
Aside from being a Hollywood hot-shot, Gere is also an outspoken campaigner for Tibetan rights.
As well as this prestigious award, Gere has also received the ‘Medal of Gratitude’ from Albanian President Bamir Topi, last May.
He was also honored by George Eastman on February 2012 for his distinguished contribution to the art of film.
Gere’s new movie entitled ‘Arbitrage’ is one of the movies to be screened at the event.
