Samsung newest smartphone-controlled camera lets you record 360-degree videos that can be watched using a virtual reality headset. The Gear 360 camera features two 180-degree lenses, which produce images that can be stitched together to create a film.
The tiny camera was unveiled ahead of the world’s biggest mobile phone show, Mobile World Congress, which is scheduled to be held in Barcelona this week.
The smartphone-controlled camera also has the capability to share videos and still images on social media sites including Facebook and YouTube. It also comes with a removable battery and collapsible tripod.
The Gear 360 works best with a Galaxy smartphone and a Gear VR headset. Once the video has been recorded, the user can relive the experience in virtual reality by simply slipping their smartphone into a Gear VR headset.
Rory O’Neill, vice-president of brand at Samsung UK, said: "We think we’re in the era of consumers wanting to move towards 'see what I saw' rather than 'see what I did',"
"We really believe that the ability to capture 360-degree content will change how you share memories ."
