Return Of The Mac
Fleetwood Mac headlined Isle Of Wight Festival playing smoother, harder rock.

Fleetwood Mac has returned and has recently headlined Isle Of Wight Festival where they embodied the Seventies far more. Playing smoother, harder rock of later and far more cynical times, their Sunday headline taps into the festival’s founding traditions.
Mick Fleetwood co-founded the band in 1967 and he is the pounding, insistent motor both musically and personally. During their appearance, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham showed determination while Buckingham looked faintly as if he’s too old for the band’s foolishness. The band electrified the huge crowd by performing their hit “The Chain” then, all their voices join in hippie harmony on that album’s “Dreams”.
Meanwhile, Blur will headline Saturday’s event; even more than Fleetwood Mac, Damon Albarn has faith in the human potential of thousands listening to music in the field. Blur promises grand musical thrills and showing their commitment and huge desire to drag people together.
The stage will be set with ice cream vans and pink and white balloon neon cones, serving as reminders of Blur’s new album The Magic Whip, whose tunes bloom in what follows.
Meanwhile, Friday’s headliner The Prodigy offers equally welcome unruliness.
