Thousands of people in the UK were mis-sold PPI. While some of them were able to get a refund, a lot have been denied after they filed their claims. This can be extremely disappointing. However, there is one thing that you can do to reverse the decision and get your money back and that is to appeal to the Financial Ombudsman.
Before you do that, make sure that your claim is legitimate. Ensure that you were indeed mis-sold PPI and that you’ve already asked your lender for a refund but was denied. You shouldn’t go to the Ombudsman right away. The process dictates that going to the Ombudsman office should be your last resort.
If you follow the process but didn’t get favourable response from the lender, appeal to the Financial Ombudsman who will review you case and make a final ruling. To speed up the review process, make sure to provide the Ombudsman with all important documents that will show that you were indeed mis-sold PPI.
