Redbridge Council CCTV Plans
Redbridge Council to launch a £1.5 million CCTV scheme to catch criminals in the act and fine people flouting traffic laws.
21:43 11 September 2018
Redbridge Council is investing £1.5million for the installation of CCTV in the area with the goal to improve safety and tackle crime. The council will use a technology designed to automatically recognise number plates in traffic offence blackspots.
Cllr Athwal, council leader, said: “We are on course for implementation in October/November and will also see an upgrading of exiting cameras and infrastructure, plus new ANPR and new re-deployable cameras.
“We are driving down costs all the time so we are increasing the number of new cameras continually.”
The council is currently working with the local community and police to determine the best locations for the CCTV cameras.
