Recent bout of snow disrupts UK again
Snow and rain is affecting the UK ahead of British Summer Time
13:00 22 March 2013
Heavy snow is affecting the British Isles, with many people witnessing the disruption caused by the weather on Friday, 22nd March. Many people in the north of England awoke to flurries of snow, while other areas saw more windy and snowy conditions.
Areas to have been hit by snow also include parts of Wales and Scotland, and a large number of schools have been shut across the UK because of the weather.
Travel is also being affected; in particular snow is affecting road travel in the north. Drivers are urged to take care, having with them food and warm clothing among other things.
Those people who live near the Pennines in the north of England may witness high winds that are spreading snow across the ground.
And in the south of the UK, many areas are being hit by rain. In particular the South-West is being affected by flooding. There are at least 17 flood warnings in place for this region as of time of press.
Places that are being hit by the recent weather include Cornwall as well as Devon.
And the onset of more bad weather has meant than many houses have had a lack of power. Reportedly thousands of people in Northern Ireland have had no access to electricity.
Forecasters have predicted that the snowy weather could set-in for the weekend.
