Reboot, North Yorkshire Helps People Stay Connected

North Yorkshire County Council secures used laptops, tablets and smartphones for children who are remote learning during the pandemic.

A project led by North Yorkshire County Council that aimed to acquire unused laptops, tablets and smartphones from residents and businesses has been a success. The project was launched to help children who are remote learning and socially isolated adults during the pandemic. 

 

Reboot North Yorkshire is aimed at getting as many digitally disadvantaged people online as possible. Yorkshire-businesses that donated to the cause include Bettys & Taylors Group and social housing provider Beyond Housing. 

 

People and organisations who are interested in participating are asked to take their devices to the nearest participating local library. The devices will then be refurbished by Reboot North Yorkshire before they are distributed to the intended recipients. 

 

Individuals who do not have gadgets to donate but would like to support the initiative can also make a cash donation, which will be used to provide data to those without access to fast and reliable broadband connection.
