Ratings Win For Britain's Got Talent

Britain's Got Talent scored almost double in the ratings game defeating the final of The Voice on BBC One.

The return of Britain's Got Talent was watched by an average of 8.1 million people defeating BBC One's The Voice that attracted only 4.5 million viewers.

 

Viewing peaked at 9.6 million on ITV when 13-year-old Beau Dermott sang and impressed the judges. She secured a standing ovation and the first Golden Buzzer, giving her an automatic place in the live shows.

 

Despite winning the ratings battle on Saturday, Britain's Got Talent recieved the lowest viewing figures during its opening, attracting only 4.9 million people. This is more than half when compared to last year when 10.1 million viewers watched the show’s opener.

 

After a slight fall in viewership for the following acts, audiences peaked again when Moldovan Alexandr Magala performed a death-defying sword swallowing act, which was watched by 9.5 million viewers.

 

Based on overnight figures, around 40per cent of all TV audiences were watching Britain's Got Talent between 19:00 and 20:20 BST. After the Saturday's show was concluded, about two million viewers switched over to The Voice for its final 40 minutes and see the winner announced.
