State-of-the-art CCTV systems used for improved community safety applications, civil traffic management, and crime prevention can also be used in efforts to reduce air pollution in city centres.
CCTV systems can be utilised to identify vehicles, including their make, model, colour, engine type, gross weight, Euro rating, and C02 emission band to determine whether a motorist has committed an offence and whether the correct tariff has been paid for entry into the restricted zone.
This service is often available on a hosted basis. It does not require the installation of hardware or software so it can be easily and rapidly deployed by any council. It can also be delivered as a fully managed service, in which it will include the supply, planning, installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance of all necessary on-street equipment.
Using connected technologies, we can encourage behavioural change in order to make a difference, not just in cleaning up air our cities.
