Scientists have discovered we are more closely related to the Neanderthal race than was previously thought. 

In the four-year study, boffins found that some humans still have traces of Neanderthal DNA - between 1-4% - suggesting interbreeding between the two species. 

Before evolving into Homo sapiens and all that, it is thought that we were apes.The weird thing is that even though millions of years have passed, and several stages of evolution, at times we're not that different from our hairy cousins.
