Quick Reminders For Grand National

The month of April brings with it great excitement for equestrians and racing fans alike. The 2013 Grand National will take place on 6th April, barring any last-minute changes which might occur.

 

Other dates of note are Ladies’ Day on 5th April, and Liverpool Day on 4th April. If you are interested in attending next year’s Grand National, look to purchase tickets around August or September when they go on sale.

 

• The Grand Opening Day on 4th April boasts entertainment in the form of musical talents, parachute team, and a dance crew. There are other surprises in store for those attending the event as well and attendees aged 17 and under will be admitted for free to the Tattersalls Enclosure if they are accompanied by a paying adult. The Saturdays are rumoured to perform at the Grand Opening Day celebration, as will Escala.

 

• Ladies’ Day on 5th April boasts a variety of fashion displays and a style contest in partnership with Matalan. Prizes are available for the lucky individual selected as the “most stylish racegoer”.

If interested in competing for the “most stylish racegoer” prize, be sure to fill out the appropriate forms. Pre-registration forms can be found online. The John Smith’s Melling Chase and Topham Chase occur in addition to the John Smith’s Handicap Hurdle, the day before the 2013 Grand National.

• The Grand National is the culmination of the previous days of celebration. This day, 6th April, promises a spectacular performance by the ceremonial military band and a parade of previous Grand National Champions.

The John Smith’s Maghull Novices’ Chase and the John Smith’s Aintree Hurdle provide excitement and contribute to the anticipation of the main event. In the afternoon the 2013 Grand National steeplechase will take place followed by a celebratory parade by the victor in the Winner’s Enclosure.
