A call girl has appeared in court facing manslaughter charges for allegedly injecting heroin into a Google executive on his yacht and leaving him to die.
26-year-old Alix Tichelman, who did not enter a plea during her hearing on Wednesday, was in court for the death of Forrest Timothy Hayes in Santa Cruz, California on November 23, 2013.
Police said that Tichelman did not provide first aid or call 911 as Hayes fell unconscious. Security camera footage showed her stepping over Hayes’ body to finish a glass of wine and gather up her heroin and needles before leaving, the police added.
"She was so callous that she literally stepped over the victim's body to retrieve her glass of wine... as the victim is laying there dying at her feet," Santa Cruz deputy police chief Steve Clark told CBS San Francisco.
Reports confirmed that Tichelman, who had an “ongoing prostitution relationship with the victim” is also being investigated for a similar incident in another state.
"There's a pattern of behaviour here where she doesn't seek help when someone is in trouble," the deputy police chief said.
Tichelman was arrested on July 4 in a sting operation by a detective posing as a would-be client.
She is being held on $1.5m bail.
