One of Glasgow’s cutest cafes has found a unique way to allow customers to truly express themselves – by printing their photos on their coffee! Located in Shawlands, Pink Inc Café is the first in Scotland to launch the brand new ‘Selfieccino’ technology designed to have a customer’s face, logo or artwork printed right onto their drink.
Owner Louise Tierney, from Rutherglen, said she got the idea from Instagram and reckons that it will become a huge trend to coffee lovers. She said that one romantic punter even plans to propose to their other half with a message printed onto their coffee.
“I've seen it used in a couple of cafes down in London. I like to have something that's a wee bit different – it's a bit of fun! Great for your Instagram or business,” she said.
The machine works just like an inkjet printer – the customer scans a QR code and uploads a photo to a mini website using their phone. The barista then prints the picture using edible ink right on the latte.
The machine will be officially launched on Tuesday, 14 January. Bloggers, local businesses and other nosey types are encouraged to witness the event and get their mug in a mug.
