Woman’s Day, a magazine in Australia, published intimate photos of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in their island honeymoon. The magazine, which had a photo of the couple in swimwear on the front cover, promised 15 more photos inside.
The publication left the royal couple feeling “upset and betrayed.” A source said that the couple sees it as “a significant invasion of a very private, special time.” The media was supposedly under an agreement not to publish them, and the location of the honeymoon had even been kept a secret until they got back.
The picture on the front cover showed them strolling along the beach in North Island, Seychelles, where they spent their honeymoon more than a year ago. The couple was hand in hand with Wills in colorful swim shorts and his new bride in a black bikini.
Editors of Woman’s Day magazine have not responded to requests for comment.
Since the photos were published, they have also appeared on news websites and on blogs. British publications, however, are mostly steering clear of the photos out of respect for the Palace.
This issue is reminiscent of the incident wherein an Australian magazine revealed that Prince Harry was serving in Afghanistan. The young prince had to be hastily brought back home after New Idea magazine in Australia broke a global media agreement not to disclose his presence in Afghanistan.
