Prince has pulled out all his music from most streaming services on the internet. When searching for his songs on Spotify, users were given a message saying that the singer’s publisher “"has asked all streaming services to remove his catalogue".
Spotify said: "We have cooperated with the request, and hope to bring his music back as soon as possible."
Prince music is now only available on Tidal, a paid-service that was relaunched by Jay Z earlier this year.
The Purple Rain singer used to be an enthusiast of online music but in 2010, he declared that internet was “completely over” and released an album only as a CD insert to several European newspapers.
Other artists who said no to streaming sites include the copyrights of The Beatles and country giant Garth Brooks. However, Apple’s streaming platform was able to change the minds of several artists about streaming sites. Taylor Swift, who also pulled her music from spotify, agreed to stream her hit album 1989 only on Apple Music.
