The Portsmouth City Council is offering residents free installation of a service that can help them live independently in their own homes. Safe at Home gives users easy access to a dedicated council support team that can provide assistance in cases of emergencies.
Margaret, a local Eastney resident who has been signed up for the service for the past eight years and who has a wearable fall detector, an alarm and a smoke detector, said: “I couldn’t live without Safe at Home. It’s a relief knowing there’s always help available if the worst happens. The team are also wonderful – they treat me with dignity. Would I recommend Safe at Home? 100%. It’s worth every penny.”
Cllr Darren Sanders, Cabinet Member for Housing and Tackling Homelessness shared his views on the June offer: “This is a great opportunity to try this life-changing service without paying for installation. You may have a vulnerable relative and need to know they’re safe if they fall or have a medical emergency. Maybe a member of your family has epilepsy, or another long-term health condition and would benefit from being able to call for help as soon as it’s needed.”
