Vanessa White of the girl band The Saturdays, was forced to perform a live show in a wheelchair after falling down the stairs.

During the pop group's gig in Dundee, the singer is understood to have tripped over a wire as the band walked on stage and severely sprained her ankle.

White then returned to the stage halfway through, re-appearing in a wheelchair. She said: "There was no way I was going to miss it!!!"

Speaking on their Twitter page, her Saturdays bandmates said: "She is a trooper and sang her heart out."

It was only the second night of the band's first headline UK tour.

However the band's spokesman said that White will be onstage to perform when they support Take That in Sunderland.
