Police held following The Voice singer murder

A 22-year-old former contestant from the Mexican version of The Voice who was abducted died moments before he was about to be rescued.

On January 07, 22-year-old Gibran David Martiz Diaz and his friend were abducted from his house by men who were allegedly wearing police uniforms. Following the incident, his family took to social media to try to find the young singer who was featured in the last season of the singing show. However, Dias was found dead.

On Saturday, moments before he was about to be rescued, Diaz and his friend was shot and died.

Authorities confirmed that two kidnapping suspects were also killed during the shootout.

SkyNews reported that seven police officers were themselves arrested in conjunction with the incident.

Kidnapping often takes place in Mexico. There were 105,000 abductions that took place in 2012 alone.
